In 2015, Hyundai debuted a new concept compact pickup truck dubbed the "Santa Cruz." Now, two years down the road, the Korean automaker has been given the go-ahead to make a production version Santa Cruz pickup.

Hyundai's Move Toward Trucks

If you've noticed the improvements Hyundai has made to the Santa Fe lineup in the past few years, including delineating between the regular Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport trims, you've been paying attention to the pulse of Hyundai's progressive thinking. Hyundai intends on increasing their truck and crossover portfolio going forwards. A year or so after the Santa Cruz is debuted, the brand plans to release other new crossover models and new SUV models. One of these models will likely be a 3-row Santa Fe model that should seat seven passengers in comfort. Hyundai also plans on releasing the Kona crossover SUV it debuted earlier in 2017. Last but not least, the Tuscon is on the list of vehicles to be reworked in 2020.
